Nancy Wasson's Keep Your
Marriage Review
After reading 'Keep Your Marriage' it became
quite clear that there are many couples in the world in need of
the advice and recommendations found within the pages of this
self help book.
It focuses the readers attention on
marriages in near disrepair and how to quickly act on or save
that marriage. The recommendations are practical and worth
trying.
One apparent shortcoming however is it
failing to highlight the reality of many couples being at the
end of their tether and really not willing to try anymore even
if with guaranteeing desired results.

With the onset of the internet and
numerous self help books, on line and on book shelves,
proclaiming all will be well once you follow certain steps,
individuals have become even more skeptical to even entertain
the thought of such suggestions.
Many couples are of the opinion that if they
have failed to save the marriage on their own, how can a third
party dare say they can be successful in doing so. What I've
found alluring about this particular piece is its usuage of the
author and her husband to illustrate to readers that they too
have had to work together to keep their marriage as good as it
is being presented.
She is not trying to sell the idea that it
is easy and the recommendations will work overnight. You are
told that both parties will have to work together if they want
the marriage to work and work at keeping it that way for the
years to come.
The author discusses the possible reasons for marriages on the
verge of failure ranging from infidelity, lack of love, refusal
of a spouse to seek marriage counselling upon the realisation
that the marriage is headed for the courts and it goes on. The
added bonus as well is having the input of real life couples
who make no bones of letting readers know what exactly was
happening within their own marriage and how close they were to
calling it quits before reading the book.
I agree that the book addresses issues and offers suggestions
on how to repair ones marriage. However , the downside is its
focus on marriages that are headed for divorce which I suppose
was its aim, but it rarely does look at a marriage that is fine
and offer suggestions on how to keep that marriage from going
sour. It also fails to focus on young marriages and explain the
challenges faced in marriages and how to work through and
preserve it.
All in all, 'Keep Your Marriage' is a well
presented piece of literary work and does ultimately what it
set out to do. It definately is worth the praise and accolade
it receives and one should not delay in making a purchase.
